Sunscreen for Babies
By

dell latitude battery

In the August 1999 issue of its journal, Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the nation's largest group of pediatricians released a policy statement that parents can now use sunscreen on infants younger than six months, contrary to earlier recommendations against it. The AAP still recommended avoiding sun exposure all together or dressing the babies in lightweight, long sleeved shirts and long pants, hats with brims, and sunglasses. "However, there's no evidence that using sunscreen on small areas of a baby's skin causes harm," the group said in its journal. The organization recommended applying a small amount of sunscreen to areas like the face and back of the hands when adequate clothing and shade are not available.
